Our lives are a tale to be told, but how often do we fear the story in its telling? James has fallen through life, plotting a course of least resistance, taking each day as it comes and waiting for that indefinable ‘something’ to turn up, to give his story meaning. His journey lacks one vital element – a fellow traveller, a heart’s desire – a purpose. Then he meets Lainey. Confident. Beautiful. Captivating. And James rewrites himself to win her heart. Lainey gives James a reason to grow, paints a bright future, promises the happy ending he has sought so keenly. But when we discover we can live the greatest story of all, are we able to share the pages with someone else? Being Someone is an emotive tale of love, of self-discovery and adventure – a story of the eternal search for happiness in another, without ultimately losing ourselves.

Literary Fiction – White Chalk

White ChalkWhite Chalk
By Pavarti K. Tyler
Publisher: Evolved Publishing
ISBN: 978-1622532988
ASIN: B00DTNV7B6
Genre: Literary Fiction, Coming of Age
Formats Available For Review: ePub or Mobi

Part Lolita, part Catcher in the Rye, White Chalk breaks all the rules.

Chelle isn’t what most people consider a typical 13-year-old girl—she doesn’t laugh with friends, play sports, or hang out at the mall after school. Instead, she navigates a world well beyond her years.

Life in Dawson, ND spins on as she grasps at people, pleading for someone to save her—to return her to the simple childhood of unicorns on her bedroom wall and stories on her father’s knee.

When Troy Christiansen walks into her life, Chelle is desperate to believe his arrival will be her salvation. So much so, she forgets to save herself. After experiencing a tragedy at school, her world begins to crack, causing a deeper scar in her already fragile psyche.

Follow Chelle’s twisted tale of modern adolescence, as she travels down the rabbit hole into a reality none of us wants to admit actually exists.

Recent Praise:

Ann Pearlman, Pulitzer Prize Nominee and Author of The Christmas Cookie Club said ” Tyler’s eye for what happens to many of our teenagers, and the psychological burdens of growing up too fast, too ignored, too alone, too poor are spot on and insightful.”

Rachel Thompson, Award-Winning Author of Broken Pieces calls White Chalk “a primer on the brutal effects of abuse, neglect, and self-esteem.”

Contemporary Fiction – So What’s Next!

So What's NextSo What’s Next!
The Sequel to So What! Stories
By G J Griffiths
Published: May 2014
ISBN: 978-1497423992
ASIN: B00K40BQAY
Genre: Contemporary Fiction
Formats Available For Review: pdf, mobi/kindle

Molly Pearson is a young Biology teacher with two passions in her life: a strong commitment to protecting wildlife; and a desire to encourage the children in her classes to feel the same enthusiasm for Nature. When her class decide they would like to restore the school’s neglected and vandalised nature corner her hopes are raised and challenged at the same time. The hurdles that she meets along the way will include bullied and bullying pupils, as well as the expected ones of finance and willing manpower.

But leaping those fences does not prepare the ambitious Molly for a dramatic fire and the confusion of a new passion in her life, in the form of Oliver Shrimpton. Will he become that significant someone, or is he just another obstacle for her to overcome?

G J Griffiths’ latest novel, in the So What! series of stories, is still based firmly around the events that take place within the “walls” of Birch Green High School. It follows some of the trials and tribulations of Molly Pearson, a previous novice teacher who was mentored by Robert Jeffrey – the main character from the first book. Molly’s efforts to spread the important message, about protecting wildlife and the natural environment, reflect something that has always been important to the author. For that reason some of the proceeds from the sales of this book will be donated to wildlife charities. Although this book is an exciting novel telling the story of schoolchildren who want to protect garden wildlife, it also contains several chapters towards the end with plenty of helpful information for lovers of nature, and who want to take a fresh look at making their garden a wildlife garden.

Three runaway teens — Ramie, Chas, and LaRoux — meet up on the road in the summer of 2007 and go looking for life, and an Apache musician named Redfeather. It ain’t Jack Kerouac’s road trip!

Life is a highway… Fifteen-year-old, Ramie Redfeather leaves Cheyenne with music in his pocket and his thumb in the air. He’s looking to find his father, a man he’s never met. Ramie gets a ride with Chas Sweeney, a seventeen-year-old driving a “borrowed” Cadillac Eldorado with Maryland tags, who just happens to be passing through Cheyenne. Chas is running from the wreckage that is his world, sixteen hundred miles away.

In Denver Ramie and Chas meet Mae B. LaRoux, an enchanting young singer from Baton Rouge. LaRoux, who struggles with a learning disability, is on a mission to become a professional musician. The three runaways band together and set out on a fast-paced road trip to get to the Austin Music Festival, looking for Redfeather along the way.
