The Glorious Between is a feel-good novel and primarily a love story. Influences include Oliver Sacks (Neurology), Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Mark Helprin (Magical Realism), Michael Ondaatje (Prose), Oliver Sacks, Kahlil Gibran, and Mary Alice Marsh for the philosophical direction.

Emily is dying. It is that thing in her head. Worse, she cannot remember her past, and can retain only fragments of the present. It feels as if she has never existed.

She is tucked up tight, holding her breath, suspended in time.

“I am not my body,” she often says, meaning she feels as if she is more than that; that we are more than just flesh and bone. But she knows, too, that reality has an awkward way of intruding into what one might hope for, and that her impending death is inevitable. In the end, she is her body and a broken one at that. It is just the way it is.

Or is it?

Enter Alessandra. Enter Patrick. Patrick, a world class neurologist and Emily’s lov-er. Alessandra, who can speak to the river, summon the sun, and redirect the moon with the tips of her fingers.

Comic Book, Humor – On The Verge

On The Verge
By Zane Martin
Published: August 2020
ISBN: 1230004111535
ASIN : B08GWY79V9
Genre: comic book, humor, satire
Formats Available For Review: epub

The book is a color illustrated single-panel comic book with a bent toward the irrational and absurd. Each panel combines the three pillars of satire: humor, irony, and hyperbole.

Many of the panels expose improbable events and surreal situations with an anthropomorphic slanted world view. Each panel’s characters represent what can happen when behavior gets out of hand or goes too far, all with a heavy dose of exaggeration.

Returning from a Vietnam sightseeing tour, his suppressed memories resurface with a vengeance as he deals with a murder and a raging wildfire that threatens to destroy his hometown of Bull River Falls, Colorado. The overly medicated vet meets a magical creature who wears paratrooper boots and rock band tee shirts and commands a subterranean army that believes Stan is the answer to their fight against unscrupulous real estate developers.

While they sabotage cell phone towers and government buildings, these supernatural friends provide an unlikely path to Stan’s redemption.

“This is not a normal book with a normal story…”

It is the story of a lonely white dolphin, and a tree, curiously shaped like a guitar with too many strings. Of an outcast singer, a honeybee and other strange misfits who help a young boy bring long-awaited rain to seven precious gifts, that have lain dormant for aeons in the parched body of the Earth. The rain awakens the gifts; and the gifts awaken the boy. And the boy awakens the Earth.

Donald McDonald was the POTUS after running on a successful campaign to “Make America Virile Again.” This new found virility was manifested in a mission to begin the colonization of Mars. Meanwhile, on earth, the process of social and biological disintegration was rapidly increasing which was predicted by the theory of sociothermodynamics. Two scientists working for the NOAA tried to warn the government of the impending disaster, but the government was focused on other issues and had no interest in governing. As a result social entropy reached its maximum, but as all hell was breaking loose, it became known that the POTUS expired as the result of an unusual medical condition.
