A six-part serial, “A Life Singular” tells the story of a successful celebrity writing his autobiography after the tragic loss of his wife. In essence a love story, the central themes of the “A Life Singular” serial are triumph over mental illness, the choices we make between right and wrong, the relentless passage of time and how each affects the other.

Part Three continues the journey:

Fame and fortune beckoned. Jeff Diamond was a success, whatever that meant Fans followed him everywhere, reporters and photographers hid around every corner and journalists recorded his many indiscretions. A whole different world to the downtrodden streets of Sydney s south-west, where vices were satisfied by using people to one s best advantage.

The star had more money than he could spend, his opinion suddenly counted, and the opportunities to feed his ever-hungry mind were plentiful. Yet the demons continued to torment him, no longer protected by the guardian angel who had been spirited away as soon as her family found out who Jeff Diamond was and where he had come from.

Suddenly the ambitious businessman and philanthropist found himself in the fight of his life. He would win Lynn s heart by showing her father he was worthy, and by convincing his dream girl that they had something worth fighting for. Would she risk throwing her privileged lifestyle away for a man whose public persona depended on alcohol, drugs and a string of pretty girls?

Jeff had nothing to lose. The trappings of his new life held little significance until the soul-mates were reunited. This was where their life singular really began. Up until this point, there had only been playtime. Now they must step up and take responsibility. It was up to them.

Newly-pregnant Dr Beth Nichols was happily engaged to Liam Darrah, a fellow doctor. She had no idea she was being stalked by ex-patient Edwin Evans as she made her way home one evening after a late shift at the hospital. After being anaesthetised she woke up in Edwin s basement, held against her will, and eventually giving birth there without medical help.

The story is written from different perspectives; from Beth s 9 year old daughter Amy who is born in captivity, and from Beth herself as she unwillingly finds herself pregnant years later with Edwin s baby. She subsequently gives birth to a son, Joss. Joss and Edwin also tell their stories16 years later.

When Beth gets the chance to escape, the Press get hold of the story and Beth and Amy have their photo in the newspaper. The photo is seen by Liam, who has made another life for himself back in his homeland of Canada with his new partner Patty and their son Toby, thinking Beth had been murdered years before. Liam must make the difficult choice of either meeting up with Beth again and getting to know his daughter, or staying where he is in Toronto.

The story then runs ahead 16 years to the point where Joss finds out who his real father is, now a patient in a secure mental hospital. Joss wants to get to know him, and makes a journey against his mother s wishes to see his real father. However, the much-anticipated meeting does not go quite to plan; Edwin still seems obsessed with Beth, and Joss feels unloved and unwanted. He makes the mistake of telling Edwin where the family are living, and when Edwin is eventually released he comes looking to claim Beth back again. The upset this visit causes to the family teaches Joss just who does love him, and whom he ought to consider as his actual real father.

Literary Fiction – The Russian Embassy Party

The Russian Embassy PartyThe Russian Embassy Party
By Cliff Adelman
Publisher: Archway Publishing
ISBN: 978-1480800052
ASIN: B00C5KGE76
Pages: 396
Genre: Literary Fiction

When an ex-CIA agent convinces a bumbling law student to write a term paper on international rights on the high seas, the student and his roommates in Washington wind up with the whole Soviet Embassy (and some other strange characters) coming to dinner. This actually happened on August 10, 1963, and has never been marked in the history books. Out of this encounter spins a story of revenge, counterpoint, and rollicking foolishness, ending on a railroad platform by the Russian-Finnish border 30 years later. The story follows its sort-of-ordinary people in a not-so-ordinary web through the edges of history (the set for “I have a dream!”, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the last gasp failed Soviet coup of August, 1991, and the chaos of Yeltsin’s drunken Russia), accompanied by an attempt to bring Western advertising to the East led by the now ex-law student and a hot, advertising sharpie ex-model, a brash BBC crew filming a detective story in St. Petersburg, and three sort-of stolen trains that turn up at that Finnish border. On the Russian side are the continuities of an attache from the original Embassy Party, his ruminative and bad-joke-filled Uncle Fyodor, and a son trying to cut out a piece of Soviet decay. Everything collides, at least in a world that was, then, rather ordinary.

A Book in Search of a True Recognition of America’s Generosity Towards Others, and to Say at Last, “Thanks, America.”

Americans’ continual trust in a unique Creator, expressed through the motto “In God We Trust,” could not be changed even by the events of 9/11. I love America and its people for many reasons: for their commitment to making one another happy, their unparalleled generosity toward non-Americans, for being the land of the free and the home of the brave, where dreams come true, and where liberty is in the very air they breathe. America’s greatest triumphs lie in its laws, which guarantee that it will remain the light of democracy throughout the world.
