“We, the seeds of Humanity, are all the descendants of hardened criminals, fighting to survive the unmaking of A Throne of Souls.

Magic and technology have already met on a world far more advanced than our own only to dispense their most dangerous and hardened criminals, for magic has been outlawed.  Their descendants—us, here on Earth, along with the rest of Humanity—are now left to grapple with a Creation undone at the hands of an outlaw mage whose Master Plan affects the seeds of Humanity throughout the known Universe.  This outlaw—this Dark Knight of Magic—must accumulate immeasurable power to thwart the fork of consequences that brought forth the making of A Throne of Souls.  This story, this execution of his Master Plan originating centuries into the past, begins and ends with a triad of pivotal relationships and evolves through his understanding of his own soul.  Within the Master Plan, the dichotomy between hate and hope, across a landscape far beyond epic, is illustrated through vibrant characters developed over two-and-a-half decades.

While Black Mirrors of the Soul is the second installment in the series A Throne of Souls, it illustrates much of the beginning of the story, especially the back-story of The Cauldron of Hate that forged Damon. This is where you’ll read, see, and feel the fuel for the Fork of Consequences. This is the gut-wrenching, emotional journey that will have you screaming, crying, and cheering for more.  From the Monuments of Creation to the Seeds of Humanity to the making of A Throne of Souls, there are plot-lines and clues everywhere in this intricate mosaic for you to unravel.

I think my Proofreader summed it up best when she said, “I’m still trying to pick up the pieces of my emotions you just scattered all over the room.”

A Note from the Author:  This thought-provoking, epic, and cerebral thriller breaks all the rules crossing over Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Fiction, and Military-Fiction genres but as you start reading A Throne of Souls, it will become apparent why those rules had to be broken to tell this multi-world story of Humanity and Creation.  My goal in delivering this product to you was to be worthy of this inimitable story in the way that I tell it—to bring it to you in my voice, but to do so beautifully, elegantly, and intelligently.  There are several things that make this story unique including a flex-style narrative that changes with the scene and technology level available to those characters, a multi-perspective view within given scenes illustrating impactful moments upon a 360-degree axis, and a voice that is more consistent with real-world application.  Is it magical realism?  Sort of!  Is it complex?  Oh yeah!!  Think of it like a large mosaic with nuanced clues of information and disinformation that by themselves might appear to be something you recognize thought might not make sense, but when assembled with other clues provide shocking answers to questions you may never have considered.  It’s going to require a little effort for you to figure out what’s going on, but the plus side of that equation is that you’re in for a big surprise.

Now, if you’re used to stories that are your traditional ‘good’ vs ‘evil,’ single protagonist saves the world type of story, this isn’t that!  My protagonists are not always ‘good,’ and my antagonists are not always ‘bad.’  I believe characters should reflect the real-world, with real thoughts, emotions, and agendas.  I wanted to bring something entirely different to the market and this is about as different as literary fiction gets.  If it’s been a long time since you’ve read something that made you cry, scream, laugh, or cheer out loud, then A Throne of Souls was written for you.  Those are the kind of stories I like to read, and that’s why I wrote A Throne of Souls.  Please enjoy it with all my best hopes and wishes. – Charles W. McDonald Jr.”

Welcome to Dreamweavers, Incorporated, where Dr. Paula Steiner blends lucid dreaming techniques with neuro-stimulation to teach her patients how to control their dreams and conquer their personal demons.

Toni Fontaine’s possessive ex-husband is stalking her, while nightmares of brutal violence torment her. Travis Colt is haunted by the ghosts of his dead wife and son every night while he sleeps. When Toni and Travis meet at Dreamweavers, sparks fly, and dreams literally come true.

But fellow patient Nick Buchanan is making nightmares come true. Nick, a bitter young man adored by women until an accident permanently scars his face, has learned a powerful secret: he incorporates his twisted dreams into the real world, and uses them to kill people he hates. When Toni spurns Nick’s advances and he sees her and Travis happy together, Nick makes Toni and Travis his next targets.

As the border between dreams and reality blurs, Toni and Travis realize they are the only ones who can stop Nick.

And the only way to defeat him is in their dreams.

Filled with hope, humor, romance, intrigue, action, surreal dreamscapes, a uniquely gifted and nefarious villain, and two amazing dogs, Dreamweavers reveals the compassion and resilience of the human—and canine—spirits with a triumphant climax that blends dreams and nightmares with what we all perceive as the real world.

Speculative Literary Dystopian – 2094

Genre: Literary Fiction / Speculative Dystopian crossover

It is 2094 and our man Melmoth is living a life he could not have imagined just 100 years ago. SmartBots do all the work, CelRenew keeps him young, organ cloning keeps him healthy, and a microchip integrated with his brain keeps him connected. Discipline & Punish holds suspected terrorists under lock and key in Gulag Cuba and pursues indigenous saboteurs across the Mexican Badlands. Initiates and Adepts operating inside Mars Colony’s geodesic domes monitor and direct the dispensation on Earth while New Age alchemists seek the Philosopher’s Stone. The secret to immortality lies in gold–it is a matter of creating enough or of finding it. The paradise promised by a century of high-technology seems at hand.

Or is it? Why does Melmoth’s SmartBot begin to malfunction? How can it be that this disturbance is general throughout the Illumined Cities of the Enhanced World? Why has the historical record been changed and the text of a famous novel tinkered with? Gulag internees continue to resist microchip implantation. Mexican guerrillas continue to blow up nuclear waste storage sites. The eggheads on Mars fail repeatedly to transform base metals into gold. Something, dear Jobs, must be done.

And Melmoth? His head hurts. That microchip, he thinks, must be on the fritz. Realistic and fantastic, comic and profound, “2094” is a story of quest and protest that imagines a future being born today.

Genre: Speculative Literary Fiction

After centuries of religiously motivated war, the world has been split in two. Now the Blessed Lands are ruled by pure faith, while in the Republic, reason is the guiding light two different realms, kept apart and at peace by a treaty and an ocean.

Children of the Republic, Helena and Jason were inseparable in their youth, until fate sent them down different paths. Grief and duty sidetracked Helena s plans, and Jason came to detest the hollowness of his ambitions.

These two damaged souls are reunited when a tiny boat from the Blessed Lands crashes onto the rocks near Helena s home after an impossible journey across the forbidden ocean. On board is a single passenger, a nine-year-old girl named Kailani, who calls herself  the Daughter of the Sea and the Sky.  A new and perilous purpose binds Jason and Helena together again, as they vow to protect the lost innocent from the wrath of the authorities, no matter the risk to their future and freedom.

But is the mysterious child simply a troubled little girl longing to return home? Or is she a powerful prophet sent to unravel the fabric of a godless Republic, as the outlaw leader of an illegal religious sect would have them believe? Whatever the answer, it will change them all forever  and perhaps their world as well.
