Before Baby guides you through a tried-and-true method to fill your freezer with nourishing, dependable meals for when your baby arrives and you no longer have the time or energy to cook. It contains delicious recipes from a registered dietitian-nutritionist, surefire advice on how to freeze properly, and prep timelines that really work.
All the recipes are naturally gluten- and dairy-free because those are the two foods to which breast-fed babies most commonly react. Before Baby is also sprinkled with pre- and post-birth nutrition advice to keep your family healthy, and I give modifications to make every recipe vegan.
Before Baby contains 15 main-dish recipes that can be prepared either on the stovetop or in the slow cooker, as well as recipes for various sides and snacks. Each recipe makes several quarts of food and will feed a family for two to three meals. I’ve also included three different prep timelines, so regardless of the time you have before baby arrives, you’ll be able to fill your freezer with great food.

Autumn is a dietitian-nutritionist located in Seattle, WA, and mother to a vivacious toddler. She currently works as a writer and consultant, and in her work as a nutritional counselor she focused on digestive issues, food sensitivities and wellness. She has taught nutrition counseling at Bastyr University, worked as a consultant for Fortune 500 companies, and made several appearances as a nutrition expert on Seattle’s Q13 Fox.
At home, Autumn balances her twin passions of cooking and food photography while raising her son.
