This is a suspense tale set during the American Bicentennial, of a University City hanger-on trying to make good in literature and music. It gives top notch geographical descriptions of New York, Philadelphia, Westchester, Washington and Boston. It has a story line. The publisher he approaches are experts in piracy, his doctor, father and friend in the bar are all blocking him out and Hoagland has a wistful vision of things. His saving grace is that he is only 20 years old. The thief returns the manuscripts and he discovers a printer who will work on consignment. One other problem none of the women he is supposed to know believe in true love, so he celebrates with his mother.
