When aliens accidentally unleash zombies on the Earth in the year 1897, some of history’s more formidable characters get caught up in the melee. In Poughkeepsie, New York, Mark Twain and Edith Wharton begin a mad fight for their lives, fleeing from both zombies and vampires alike. In Moscow, Alexander Scriabin and his wife Vera are rescued by a vampire, only to meet up with more vampires who are not nearly as friendly. In Berlin, August Strindberg flees a rehearsal and finds safe refuge in a secret underground city populated by elves. Meanwhile, the aliens enlist the help of Voltaire, Caravaggio, and Alexander Hamilton in order to help save the Earth from an ignominiously chewy death.
