For one year, Trina has been preparing her first puppy, Sydney, to be a service dog. But by the end of her week at Edisto Beach, South Carolina, Sydney must be returned to be matched to his forever companion. As emotional as this event is, Trina wonders each day what her next decision will be. Can she train another?

The week is made harder by Trina’s newly strained friendship with her best friend, Sarah. She is so over-the-top boy crazy, she has turned into a stranger. Now Trina must not only deal with her unexpected grief over returning Sydney, but also risk the chance of loosing her best friend.

It surprises Trina that Sarah’s flirting isn’t the cause of catching the two older brothers’ attention on the beach, but Sydney’s skill with their younger autistic brother. Trina’s confidence builds, with Sydney’s help, and both girls establish a new-kind-of relationship with the guys.

Throughout the week, Sarah realizes Trina’s friendship and the job she is doing with Sydney is important. Sarah encourages Trina to follow her heart and be the best Puppy Raiser ever.

This story combines humor, growing pains and plenty of puppy love-of both varieties.

Children’s Book – Lazy Daisy, the Love Dog

Lazy Daisy, the Love DogLazy Daisy
By Marti Regan
Publisher: Trafford
ISBN: 9781466977891
Published: March 2013
Pages:v40
Genre: Children’s Book
Format Available For Review: pdf

Lazy Daisy, the Love Dog is a picture book for ages 3-7. It is an enchanting tale of a puppy’s serendipitous route to becoming a therapy dog. The whimsical illustrations skillfully convey Daisy’s personality and adventures.

The pup, Daisy, is more interested in cuddling and snuggling than in romping and running. Everyone calls Daisy a lazy dog, except Mattie, who thinks her pup is perfect just the way she is. The notion that we are all good at something is realized when Daisy’s laziness becomes an asset as she becomes a “love dog” at a hospital.

This book is inspired by the mission of therapy animal programs across the country. When witnessing the human-animal bond that occurs between hospitalized children and visiting therapy dogs, one recognizes that it takes a special type of dog to be a “love dog.”

Dog lover Rich Worsham knows there’s more to his tiny dachshund, Buster Brown, than meets the eye. As it turns out, Buster is on a mission to write a book – one that reveals to humans The Legend of the Dog, the secret hidden for ages of why dogs and man form packs and how this has impacted and will impact the destiny of human kind. Rich chronicles Buster’s adventures as he struggles to understand who he is and to finally accept his reason for being. (ISBN 1452834601).

Even though Rich has extensive knowledge in the world of business and economics, he relied upon his gift of understanding the heart of man and animal to co-author The Legend of the Dog with Buster Brown. Rich merges fact with myth and mystery during a journey that takes them to the High Places to recover the Legend which the Wolves have kept hidden for thousands of years. In the process they learn about the secret life of dogs as told by Lightning, the head wolf of all Dog Kind in the earth, and how dogs have influenced history since the beginning of time.
“Out of all the creatures in the world, we, as humans, have inexplicably formed an unbreakable bond with dogs,” says author Worsham. “Buster’s journey reveals the secrets behind this unique, ancient relationship.”

Rich and Buster hope their book The Legend of the Dog provides clarity and direction for understanding of the world we live in today, and how dogs and humans together, can make this a better place for all of us. Within the pages of Buster’s journey, Rich believes readers will discover their destiny and learn to live the Legend.
