Japanese immigrant Harry Shikita dreams of becoming a successful businessman by building Rainbow Gardens, Minnesota’s first neon-lit motel. But the 1920s are a tough time to be an “Oriental” in America, and Harry must deal not only with prejudice and foul play, but also the trolls.

Yes, trolls–the kind that turn to stone. Cursed descendants of Cain, the trolls are trying to find their way back to God through their Redeemer. The trolls think Harry’s their guy, but he’s on his own quest to be accepted, to be an “old boy.”

Each time Harry’s slapped down, he gets up and starts again. But things only get worse for Harry after Pearl Harbor. Innocent of any wrongdoing, he finds himself interned for the duration of the war—while his son fights the Nazis in Europe.

If Harry finds a way to forgive his adopted country, can he become the trolls’ bridge to God’s Grace? The answer lies within the neon paradise of Rainbow Gardens.

Like their Viking ancestors, their life is full of trolls and Hidden People and the daily chores around the farm. Didda loves climbing the cliffs to collect bird’s eggs but would rather face a troll than Grandpa’s nasty-tempered cow named Old Red. When chores are done, the adventure begins. The Icelandic frontier real-life hardships she faces teaches her to value every day. Grandpa always said Viking children never cried; they howled, screamed, bellowed – but did not cry! Didda learns to overcome her fear of a terrible storm at sea that threatens to sink their ship and must come to terms with the loss of a close friend. She comes to understand joy, fear, loss and life while never crying even once. This historical fiction parallels the author’s memoir, recounting the excitement and real-life dangers of growing up in Iceland. The author’s deion of Iceland provide the reader with such realistic detail the landscape comes alive.

Genre: Historical/Religious Fiction
Formats Available For Review: print (limited quantities available), kindle, pdf

Jesus [Yeshua]called himself Son of Man, as recorded about 100 times in the gospels. If this means that he was human, then how did he gain his knowledge and wisdom? The author imagines that Yeshua used the period from 12 to  30 years of his life, about which nothing is mentioned in the bible, for gaining his education – first in Jerusalem in Gamaliel’s academy and  then inTaxila University. in India. In Taxila,, he learned Buddhism and Hinduism, and taught Judaism. In the process, he became very close to a colleague by the name Shakuntala who suggested marriage. Yeshua pointed our that he was committed to a mission to the Jews which was his first priority, So he went back to Palestine, where he preached about the kingdom of god for over three years. Finally the frightened Jewish clergy arranged to crucify him. With help from some friends, he escaped from the gallows and went back to Taxila.
