Raising the next generation of children is more distracting than ever. We want to raise children with purpose, who excel not only in their pursuits but in the character that makes them victorious when life throws them challenges. How do you give your children the best opportunities without feeding the narcissism prevalent in our selfie society? By giving them integrity.

Building children requires integrity: the wholeness that comes from knowing who you are, what you stand for and what you live for. Integrity is consistent; it can be counted on. Building children with integrity helps them to own the ethics and character that will stand against the flood of social opposition to strong values.

How to Build Children with Integrity is a toolbox of resources and ideas for parents and those who are involved with children. This book is meant to be used as a springboard to inspire people to think of how they can take normal everyday life and build something lasting in children along the way. As we dedicate ourselves to these tasks, results will follow.

This is a straight to the point book about the ever-growing problem of BULLYING that children are experiencing today in addition to its being a topic that appears to have been kept silent for decades, with the appearance of few to no solutions.  The book considers the author’s perspective as she survived the devastation of bullying while in school.  She suggests several methods for parents to handle it via religion and legal routes. She also discusses the problem of guns on college campuses, etc. and suggestions to solving this problem.  It is not a long book, because she hits the topics straight on with solutions she suggests to PREVENT and STOP Bullying in its tracks, because of the horrible side effects on children such as depression, anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and suicide.

Nutrition/Pregnancy – Before Baby

Before BabyBefore Baby
A step-by-step guide to making and freezing meals before your newborn makes cooking impossible
By Autumn Hoverter, MS, RDN
Publisher: FoodWise Nutrition
Published: January 2015
ASIN: B00RU0QW0U
Genre: Cookbooks, Nutrition, Recipes, Pregnancy
Formats Available For Review: kindle

Before Baby guides you through a tried-and-true method to fill your freezer with nourishing, dependable meals for when your baby arrives and you no longer have the time or energy to cook. It contains delicious recipes from a registered dietitian-nutritionist, surefire advice on how to freeze properly, and prep timelines that really work.

All the recipes are naturally gluten- and dairy-free because those are the two foods to which breast-fed babies most commonly react. Before Baby is also sprinkled with pre- and post-birth nutrition advice to keep your family healthy, and I give modifications to make every recipe vegan.

Before Baby contains 15 main-dish recipes that can be prepared either on the stovetop or in the slow cooker, as well as recipes for various sides and snacks. Each recipe makes several quarts of food and will feed a family for two to three meals. I’ve also included three different prep timelines, so regardless of the time you have before baby arrives, you’ll be able to fill your freezer with great food.

So, who is this book perfect for?

Expectant families without a lot of support who want to eat well after their baby comes.
Families with more than one child. Kids don’t stop needing to be fed when a newborn comes home!
Families with specific dietary needs.
Friends or family members of expectant parents who want to help keep them fed.

Available for Kindle and Kindle Apps on any device! Print version available in August 2015.

Beyond a Mother’s Worst Nightmare….. allowing yourself to live and love again after a death of a child

Losing a loved one is never easy. When it is your child, it’s all the more difficult. Parents are not supposed to outlive their children, so most are unprepared when it happens.

A little part of you dies, along with your child. You’ll never really “get over” their passing, but you will learn to live with the loss, making it a part of who you become.

Karen Chaston share’s her three-year journey following the unexpected death of her son Dan at age 27. She shares with readers how her child’s death compelled her to rethink her priorities and re-examine the meaning of life.

Her journey is one of gratitude, laughter, love, joy, reflection and contemplation. She talks of how she honours her child, whilst also recognising the need to re-engage in life and find pleasure in new experiences.

It may seem impossible, but you can go on to find happiness and purpose in life again.

A Guide to Choosing Your Children’s Schools & Monitoring Their School Experiences is a must read for all current and prospective parents, ideally before their children reach school age. It will help them plan ahead to ensure successful educational experience for their children.

The first part of the book draws attention to various factors parents should, but do not always, consider that affect their children’s education. For example, what school is best for my child: Public or private; Charter, County or City school? Where you buy a home may take these choices out of your hands! The book challenges parents to use readily available information in print and on the internet, regarding school academic history, location, resources, curriculum and extra-curricular offerings, to plan ahead. It encourages parents to make deliberate choices that would position their children in the neighborhoods that would place them in the best schools.

The second part of the book argues for, and illustrates, why parents should closely monitor their children’s experiences from pre-school through high school, even in the best of schools. The book concludes with suggestions on various ways parents can forge effective partnerships with the school/teacher to facilitate a successful experience for their children/ward.
