Trouble Rides through Texas.
Retired sheriff’s department detective Al Quinn had hoped for quiet times fishing at his lakeside home. That bubble pops when Gladys Sanders, the sixty-year-old co-owner of an organic farm, is found dead and hung as a scarecrow on the farm by her two sisters, and her son is run over in his kayak the same day. When evidence slips away from the scene while deputies are there, Sheriff Clayton asks Al to ride along with Al’s successor as a mentor. That simple task explodes into raw danger when three rival gangs of bikers, many ex-prisoners with ties to fierce Mexican cartels, start mixing it up in earnest. Al’s pal in ICE, Jaime Avila, tells Al he’s a turtle and ought to leave the fighting to the young. But when Al’s brother is at risk, Al heads right for heart of the ruckus, and before it’s over the gangs might just get to hear the turtle roar.
